Practicing Self Respect - Mindful Moment

Hey there and welcome to another Mindful Moment.
Today's topic is self respect. I’m curious, do you respect yourself?

Do you respect your time, your energy, your efforts?
Do you respect your body, your mind, your heart?

We keep appointments with other people, but do we keep them for ourselves?

We send love to other people, but do we give that love and respect to ourselves?

Are you taking the time to rest your body by resting? Feeding your body nutrient food? Are you respectful of what you put into your mind?

Distracting ourselves by staying busy, grabbing a quick bite to eat on the road, staying up late only to wake up early; filing our heads with distractions constantly. Obsessing over the news, tv shows, and mindless gossip disrespecting ourselves by what we put into our minds.

So our practice is about respect.

Closing your eyes and finding a comfortable position for the next few moments.
Settling in and connecting to your breath.

Feel the air coming into your body and gently releasing.
Observing if we are breathing through our chest or from our belly.
Respecting our bodies natural rhythm.
Putting our conscious awareness on our breath.

And as we sit, we respect our mind. If it’s chatty and busy, observing what it feels it needs to share with you.
There is no judgment, no critic, no harsh words.
We are practicing how to be with ourselves in this moment and have respect for where we are.

Turn your focus within. Take a moment to observe your inner state.
Observing and witnessing our deeper, inner world.
Having respect for where we are in this moment, without changing, controlling or manipulating it.

Settling into what is and into self respect in this moment.

Notice your breath, connect to your body.

For this moment, I invite you to take a deeper inhale. Fill your body with precious oxygen.
Let your exhale be slower and longer, taking your time.
Allow your body to relax even deeper.

I invite you to silently say to yourself, “I am sorry”.
“I am sorry for disrespecting you.”
“I am sorry for where I’ve disrespected your time, your energy and well being.”

Another deep inhale and extended, slow exhale.

Silently to yourself repeat, “Please forgive me.”
“Please forgive me for not respecting your boundaries.”
“Please forgive me for not respecting the signals you show me.”
“Please forgive me for ignoring you.“

Take another deep breath in. Extended, slow exhale.

Quietly say to yourself, “Thank you.”
“Thank you for being there for me, always. “
“Thank you for carrying through this life.“
“Thank you.”

Taking a deep breath in and gentle. release.

Silently say, “I love you”.

“I love you.”

“I love you.“

Feeling the self respect and connection to your body, resting and peaceful.
Respecting our hearts, body and energy.
We take this feeling with us throughout the day.
We give respect to ourselves and how we show up in the world.

Taking our last deep breath together…. Slow inhale and release.
As you go about your day, may you respect your boundaries, your heart, your time, your mind and your energy.

Sending you into the world with love and respect.
Be well friends, from my heart to yours.
